Pool Season is Upon Us!

The 2019 Pool Season is officially upon us starting today, Friday, May 10, 2019. While we cannot control the weather, we can control when we open and close for the season. As with last year, we will be open on a limited schedule for the 2 weeks prior to Memorial Day weekend and again on a limited schedule for 2 weeks after Labor Day weekend. What is different this year than years past is that the Five Forks Pool date schedule will mirror that of the Mill House Pools! And while there are minor time differences due to lighting, we did our best to match the schedules.

Pool Rules:

Thunder Closings! Slide Rules! Yes, we have pool rules and they have been updated for 2019 as well. We have been working with the Board of Directors and Trident Pool Group to provide straightforward and easily understood by all residents. The 48” Slide Rule continues because this is a manufacturer rule, not ours. But we have tried to ease the pain for parents this year by offering brand new height measurement signs featuring Finn the Sailfish, our swim team mascot, at the Mill House Pool entrance and one at the base of the slide tower. The Rules & Policies are located at https://lawsonhoa.com/pools and you can find them right here:

We ask that you review these rules for yourselves and with your children. We have also updated the Swimwear Policy, Food & Beverage Policy and Guest Policy to be easier to understand for all. Last, we have brought back modified version of Safety Break which will occur each hour for 10 minutes at the bottom of the hour. Trident Pool Group has reviewed and instructed the new lifeguards for the 2019 pool season and they are to enforce these rules and policies. They will have copies of these rules on hand at both pool amenities for your review as well.

Swim Lessons:

The Lawson Amenities & Pools Committee in cooperation with Trident Pool Group are happy to announce that we will be offering swim lessons at the Lawson Pools this summer season. The lessons will be held at both the Mill House Pools and the Five Forks pool based on pool availability, especially during swim team practice times. “Learn To Swim” swim lessons is a BRAND NEW program from the ground up for 2019.

Lawson Sailfish:

The Mill Pool will host three home meets for our Lawson Sailfish Swim Team this season. The Mill Pool will close at 4:00pm on these dates, but the Five Forks Pool will remain open. 2019 Dates are Thursday June 13, Tuesday June 24 and Thursday June 28. Swim practices typically occur in off hours of the pool hours, but during the week of May 28, 29 & 30 and the week of June 3, 4, & 5, the swim team will share the Mill House Lap pool for practice reducing open swim to half of the pool. We kindly ask that residents please give way to the swimmers who have practice during these days.

For more information on the swim team, please see: http://lawsonsailfish.com/

Note: The Lawson Sailfish operate independently of the Lawson Community Association.

Trident Pool Group:

At the close of the 2018 pool season we parted ways with our previous pool management company and Trident Pool Group came on board. What this means to you is that we will have a brand new look for our lifeguards plus how the guards and managers operate our pools. Some of these guards you may recognize as Lawson residents, but for the most part all of guards are brand new to the community for the season. Trident Pool Group operates very differently and you will see guards on the move all the time cleaning garbage, checking restrooms, cleaning the pools and more. What you will not see is guards with their friends and guards allowing their friends into the pool areas. During Safety Break guards will be working, it’s not their break time, its cleaning and check-up time. It will be a new experience for all of us including the pool management company and we do not expect perfection this weekend. We will take feedback and maintenance related issues at support@lawsonhoa.com. We will pass on any Kudos! to their management as well. Trident is locally owned as well and you will see the owner on site regularly. We are quite excited about this new development!

Five Forks Pool Deck:

As we announced in December, Lennar stepped up to replace the concrete pool deck at the Five Forks Pool. Work finally started in early March, then stalled because of the weather. They restarted a few weeks ago and finally were able to lay the concrete and new coping just two weeks ago. It was a royal mess for a few weeks and as of today looks amazing! The water is crystal clear and ICE COLD! The work is not 100% completed, but for the most part we are good to go. You will see additional work being done. We will continue to monitor the deck and work with the contractors.

We would like to thank all of our Amenities Committee members and the Board of Directors for completing the first overhaul of the Pool Rules & Policies in many years. We would also like to thank the Board of Directors for all of their guidance and assistance in negotiating a new pool management contract as well as their assistance with the work completed at Five Forks. It was a massive undertaking requiring many meetings onsite, calls, emails and stressful texts. Thank you.

We hope you have an amazing swim season!

Thank you, Lawson Amenities Committee
